Niagara Falls, one of the world's greatest natural wonders, lies on the international border between Ontario in Canada and New York State in the US. Long considered a premiere honeymoon destination, it's a family-friendly vacation destination, as well, with dozens of interesting activities and attractions. As of 2009, a passport is now required to travel between the US and Canada if you wish to visit attractions on both sides of the border.

These are heavily booked on the weekends and offer discounts for stays scheduled from Sunday through Thursday. You can take a ride on the famous Maid of the Mist boat tour of the American and Canadian falls. You can hike beneath the pounding waters of the falls with the Cave of the Winds tour. These attractions are available from May 1st through the Labor Day weekend in early September. The Niagara Aviary offers a rainforest setting in which to view the exotic birds housed there. There are several casinos that offer live entertainment on both sides of the border. All ages are welcome at the shows, but minors must be accompanied by an adult. Fallsview Waterpark is an indoor facility with 15 waterslides, a wave pool, and several swimming pools.

You can take a Niagara area wine tour or visit the magnificent gardens at the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture. There are quaint villages scattered throughout the area's many fruit orchards where you can shop for antiques or artwork from local artists.
